Greetings Dulles Honor Flight Volunteers-
It has been a long time in coming but, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming schedule for the 2021 Fall season. While many hubs have delayed flying until 2022, we have a few opportunities to greet our beloved veterans and provide them with their long awaited THANK YOU!
As we have all learned to adapt to the changes in our daily lives, likewise, there will be a few changes to the procedures at our greetings.
—-IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID-19, OR HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath), PLEASE DO NOT COME GREET AT THE AIRPORT.
—-Greeters/Volunteers will be separated from Veterans/Guardians as much as possible using stanchions or other barriers that provide a safe distance between the 2 groups. Please do not cross these barriers. Please practice social distancing.
—-Please do not attempt to hug, shake hands or touch the veterans. While this has been a major part of our greetings in the past, (and what many of us loved MOST!), it is imperative to insure the safety of all by eliminating physical contact.
—-Per federal law, masks are required at all times inside the airport terminals. Children under age 2 and people with medical conditions which prevent the wearing of face coverings are exempt. Masks must cover the nose and mouth.
—-This year we would like an abundance of red, white and blue in the terminal and ask that volunteers wear patriotic colors instead of the yellow Honor Flight shirts. We will have a supply of American flags on hand.
Our greatest concern is the safety and well being of everyone involved with the Honor Flight day; veterans, guardians and greeters. We ask that you adhere to all of the above guidelines and hopefully, one day in the very near future, we will be able to warmly embrace our vets, extend a hearty handshake and see the huge smiles on their non masked faces.
Signups for greeting are listed on our 2021 Schedule Page Here. We can’t wait to see you at the airport soon!
