updated as of 20 April 2022
Honor Flight at Dulles continues to prioritize the safety of all of our veterans who are transiting through Dulles International Airport. In a rapidly changing environment, we will follow federal, state and local guidelines.
As of 19 April, 2022, wearing a mask while inside Dulles International Airport is now optional. It is a matter of personal preference. However, each Honor Flight will have its own interpretation for the safety and health of its veterans and we will abide by their wishes. Please come prepared with a mask should the flight director request that we wear masks.
IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL, HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID-19, OR HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath), PLEASE DO NOT COME GREET AT THE AIRPORT.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HUG, SHAKE HANDS, OR TOUCH THE VETERANS! While this has been a major part of our greetings in the past, (and what many of us loved MOST!), it is imperative to ensure the safety of all by eliminating physical contact. Greeters will be separated from the Veterans/Guardians as much as possible using stanchions or other barriers that provide a safe distance between the 2 groups. Please do not cross these barriers.
Our greatest concern is the safety and well being of everyone involved with the Honor Flight day; veterans, guardians, and greeters. We ask that you adhere to all of the above guidelines and hopefully, one day in the very near future, we will be able to warmly embrace our vets, extend a hearty handshake, and see the huge smiles on their non-masked faces.
